Simon Edgoose demos the Zildjian Gen16 Acoustic Electronic (AE) in two videos. He explains in two videos what you can do with the AE cymbals from Zildjian and how you can use them in a live setup or at home or in the studio. Gen16 is the hybrid system from Zildjian that blends acoustic with electric. The available sets contain Buffed Bronze cymbals, Direct Source Pickups and a Digital Cymbal Processor.
The hybrid setup In the first video Simon takes you through the hybrid setup, including the acoustic drums with mesh heads that have triggers on them. Fun part is that he also has stackers: normal cymbals combined with the Gen16 cymbals. He talks about sound and how the complete setup works.
Sound demos The second video has him playing different cymbal sounds in some songs.
Simon Edgoose has been playing professionally since he moved to London at 18, working in many different areas of the music industry from being a member of various signed bands, a first call session player or offering technical support for some of the biggest drummers around.
The Gen16 Buffed Bronze cymbal produces a richer and warmer tone then the original Gen16 nickel plated cymbal. Each Gen 16 cymbal utilizes a patented pattern of holes, in varying sizes to reduce the sound pressure level (SPL) of an acoustic cymbal. The buffed bronze cymbals are the world's first reduced volume acoustic cymbal.
