In 2012 Anthrax joined Motörhead on their The Wörld is Yours Tour, but long-time drummer Charlie Benante was absent due to "personal stuff". Sitting behind the kit was Jon Dette, a sought-after session drummer in the 1990s who took some time off in the early 2000s. Jon came back in 2011, did some work with Heathen and Animetal USA, followed by a stint with Anthrax and, very recently announced, his tour with Slayer.
While on tour with Anthrax, Drummerszone caught up with Jon for an exclusive video interview. Jon tells why he disappeared from the music industry and what happened in those years, explains how he became touring drummer for Anthrax, and that he's available for a permanent band.
Jon reveals that he has been a fan of Anthrax since the first day he started playing drums (the first song he tried to play on drums was Metal Thrashing Mad (from Anthrax' 1984 debut album 'Fistful of Metal') and he gives a scoop on his upcoming drum dvd with Thomas Lang, focussing on old school heavy metal drumming. Jon also talks about his gear and the secret behind his speed.
