On July 6, 7 and 8, the annual North Sea Jazz Festival took place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. This biggest Jazz festival of the world has over a 1000 artists playing the festival in three days. As every year Drummerszone.com was present at the festival to capture and show the best of the best playing there. From Dutch hammond sensation Sven Hammond Soul, to the Sunday night final with the Mano a Mano trio of Michel Camilo, Giovanni Hidalgo and Lincoln Goines. All three days as spectacular as they can get. Just like the performance of Ralph Rolle with Nile Rodgers' Chic, or Cindy Blackman Santana with the new power band Spectrum Road.
The listing below shows all the artists and bands we visited, accompanied with some videos of Belgium drummer/bandleader Tuur Moens with his Syndicate, a small drum solo of Cindy Blackman and Omar Hakim's drum solo at the start of his clinic on Sunday. Make sure you check out the photos of Jay Bellerose's vintage drum set or Rodrigo y Gabriela drummer Bernald Edwins Sanz, who has his timbales set up as toms. Or other overwhelmingly talented artists like Oscar Seaton (George Benson) and Ralph Rolle (Chic).
