This unique setup was made for Maná's 2019 'Rayando El Sol Tour,' with the two unique and one-off DW Drums Collectors Stainless Steel kits that Alex "El Animal" played every night on a round riser. Paiste had both the full kits on display at the 2020 NAMM Show as their annual eye-catcher.

The Alex González 'Rayando El Sol Tour Kit'
On full display, this drum kit is a work of art on itself. Besides the stainless steel drums, and the almost entire Paiste 2002 range, including cool and creative cymbal stashes, there are several piccolo drums, different sizes of DW ratatoms, a bell brass and steel piccolo, some octobans, and even the work from the famous Ronn Dunnett.

The drums at the DW White House
The 'DW White House' is the final stage and check on all the drums that are made at the factory in Oxnard, California. You might regocnize the place from the photos DW puts on Instagram, or from our video How DW Drums Are Made. Notice the difference with the kits shown here and when fully setup with cymbals, hardware and John Douglas' artwork.

Also with the kit is gear from Latin Percussion, Remo drumheads, and the extraordinary 'Cymbal Toppers,' as Alex likes to call them. These round Star Trek-like cymbal screws are also designed by John Douglas, and probably made in DW's private hardware shop.

The rack is all DW hardware, and of course especially designed for this extreme drum setup and design. The look and feel almost carries the magic of Neil Peart's Time Machine or R40 drum kit. Imagine being on the drum throne behind it; only the impression of it makes you hesitate twice to hit any of the drums.

John Douglas his artwork is featured on these drums. John Douglas is an artist and a drummer who has made designs for many iconic drums, guitars, album covers and even live concert paintings. His website has a quick & dry explanation and image reel of some of his work. His talent got him to work with some high class acts and artists including Aerosmith, Pantera, Damageplan, Creed, Alter Bridge, Slash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, ZZ Top and many more.
