Two years after its launch in 2018, the Yamaha EAD10 acoustic drum module has gotten some major upgrades that makes it better on many fronts. It also makes it more fun to play with, but now it definitely has more use on stage, for recording and teaching sessions. It gets even better: the new Firmware is free for all EAD10 users.
The EAD10 - a quick recap We were immediately enthusiastic in our coverage on the EAD10 after its launch in 2018 at the NAMM Show. In short: the EAD10 is a module plus a trigger that has an internal microphone that lets you create completely new drum sounds on your acoustic drum set on the fly.
How the EAD10 works

The new in the EAD10 Version 2.0 The EAD10 is basically the same, but the Version 2 firmware of the module gives it a lot more functions. Simon Edgoose demos a ray of features of the EAD10 in the video recorded at NAMM 2020 - with sounds straight from PA.

Record for 90 minutes straight into the USB drive That is recording 1,5 hours of drums. Whether is just grooves or entire shows, the EAD records it.
The Click Track With that, you can now route the click track to the output as well... to also have it on the recording, that is. Also a great learning feature.
42 new kits are available for using the EAD with triggers You can download these presets and load them into the module. Yamaha calls it Scenes, but they represent full drum kits.
The Rec'n'Share App While not fantastic in its design, at Drummerszone we are very charmed by this app. The ease of use that all this app has to offer is just awesome. The EAD10 can connect to a maximum of 6 triggers and pads including the bass drum trigger of the sensor unit.
