16 August 1964 was the day Latin Percussion was founded. To celebrate the 55th anniversary, the LP percussion company built these limited edition congas and bongos. The wood they are made of is New Zealand Pine, and if they look burnt to you, that is exactly what they did with these drums.
They are put on a spindle and, just like crème brûlée, burned with a blow torch to emphasize the natural grain of the wood. The official name for the finish is Candy Black Fade, and Fausto Cuevas III demos them for you in the videos below!
Limited means Limited The quinto, conga and tumba are sold as a set. The series is not limited to 55, which you might expect, but you can order them as soon as you can with LP to be sure you get one of these one-of-a-kind sets. The bongos are sold separately. The congas feature LP's patented Top Tuning hardware, Black Nickel plated hardware and a commemorative 55th-badge. The bongos have the same hardware, except for the Top Tuning hardware of course.

Fausto's credits include Stevie Wonder, Julio Iglesias, Celia Cruz, Teena Marie, Cheo Feliciano, Al Jarreau, Tito Nieves, Nestor Torres, Roy Hargrove and Britney Spears. However, he claims in the video that he just landed on earth, so we assume the guy playing with all these artists must be his human doppelgänger.
