Besides that it looks beautiful, the story - although not too expressively told- is great on itself as well; Preston creates finishes by covering the brass shells in seaweed, and then throws them in the ocean to let the process of oxidation do his work.



Patina & seaweed
The word Patina in the snare's title means that the shell naturally developed through the process of oxidation - in this case, in the ocean. The seaweed influences the new thin layer that variously forms on the surface and makes the creative and good looking textures that you see on the snare.

In an item of Drum! magazine online, Preston stated in 2018:

[...] Parsons is Vessel Drums' founder and sole craftsperson. "I have some help from friends here and there, mostly for website and social media stuff, but otherwise it's all me. I'm just one dude building in a small room with the door closed so I can get a little work done."
