This is one of the three kits that were made from recycled Paiste cymbals, and this one is the private one of Tool-drummer Danny Carey. Paiste displayed the kit on the NAMM 2019 show, so reason enough to show and feature this unique piece of art once more.
The drums are a combined effort and dream of both Eric Paiste and designer and drum builder Jeff Ocheltree. In 1998 they came up with the idea to recycle Paiste signature cymbals into an entire drumset. Danny used these on tour with Tool as well as in the studio.
The seamless, solid bronze shells are sand casted from melted down Paiste cymbals. The drums are handcrafted and built in this unique piece of art of which only three exist.

Jeff Ocheltree Jeff Ocheltree is a legend in the drum industry. He is considered to be the first person to start taking care of drums, making him the first 'drum tech' in music. He started his career as a drum tech with Bill Cobham and was John Bonham's drum side-kick. He has worked with Mark Craney, Lenny White, Steve Ferrone, Steve Smith, Cindy Blackman and many, many others.
Jeff has designed drum kits for legendary drummers like Carl Palmer, Alex Van Halen and, of course, Danny Carey's recycled Paiste kit.
Jeff Ocheltree is currently battling stage 4 prostate cancer and a fundraiser to help him has been active since October 10, 2018.
