Although we see in the videos below the pre-production prototype of the new Pearl Mimic Pro Module, the features it has are very cool and easy for drummers to handle. All the drum sounds are powered by Slate and feature the latest that are to be released in 2017. Here are Will Kennedy (Yellow Jackets, Herbie Hancock) demoing the Mimic Pro Module, and Pearl's Director of Product Development Raymond Massey gives you the full demo explanation, as well as some more drum samples.
Steven Slate delivers drum samples The new Mimic Pro Module will have the complete Steven Slate Drums 5 digital sample library. Steven Slate is one of the most used and award winning drum replacement audio/software companies there are. And while this is a pre-production prototype, one of the cool features is that you can personally handle your own mix and the front of house mix through the module. The 7 inch touch screen makes it very easy and has a well-designed interface. Also easily adjustable are the four microphones you can use for all your drums and cymbals; you can set the top, bottom, overhead and room mikes in one screen. That is sound control.
Of course, you can import your audio files and trigger from your pads. The Pearl website tells us the product price is yet to be announced, but at NAMM Raymond Massey told us the street price would be around $2.199.
The three Mimic Pro videos
The first one features Will Kennedy demoing the Mimic Pro at the Pearl Booth at NAMM 2017.
In the second video Will Kennedy demos, and Raymond Massey gives you the details.
The third one has Raymond Massey demoing more drum kits and sound. Again, notice the screen of the pre-production prototype giving the raw processor stats of the CPU load that seems to nails fast playing and a lot of input without effort.
