Just like with the Classic Fit drumheads, Remo solved another problem, this time for dampening the bass drum with a felt strip. The new Powerstroke 3 Felt Tone bass drumheads have a free-floating dampening strip built into the drumhead without glues. For drummers who rather don't have a hole in the front of their bass drum, this is ideal. The dampening is highly responsive and the effect is amazing, even without any other cloths of foam inside the bass drum.
As you can see in the video we made at the NAMM Show 2017 with Bob Yerby, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Remo, the 26" Dunnett bass drum is almost naturally dampened while keeping the distinct sound and low of the drum. Not only drummers, but for sure sound technicians will be happy with this innovation.
Free-Floating The free-floating feature is truly free and floating. The Powerstroke construction of the inlay has a Mylar strip over the felt strip that keeps it in place. Also, the strip gets more tension when you tune the drum higher, and vice versa.
Another problem solved with the Felt Tone is that you don't stretch it useless over time. This one stays in place and in shape because of its design.
For the drummers out there who are often re-using felt strips, and always trying to keep it tightened and in place; this invention makes it actually look old cool on the Hazy bass drumheads as well.
The Felt Tone bass drumheads are available in either Hazy or Fiberskyn film.
