Meinl Cymbals has added the new Pure Alloy cymbal line to their portfolio. Introduced at Winter NAMM 2017, the line already exists of five cymbals and two hihats; a 14" and a 15". Also new for Meinl were some serious sound expansions for the Byzance Brilliant Heavy Hammered, Classics Custom Dark, Classics Custom Brilliant and the HCS line. Of course we already reported on the patent pending Cymbal Tuners; Benny Greb's idea of customizing your cymbal sound with just two strong magnets.

And strong is what the Cymbal Tuners are, according to Norbert Seamann from Meinl:

"Benny Greb was on tour in Turkey, and during the last night of the tour he played the cymbals so loud that he lost two of the prototypes of the Cymbal Tuners.
Back home in Germany, while unpacking his bass drum pedal, the magnets had just glued to the metal of the pedal. We tested it, and when the fall off your cymbal, they seem to just fly to the cymbal stand, and stick to it."

Meinl Pure Alloy Cymbal Line - Clarity first
The Pure Alloy cymbals are all made in Germany. They have a traditional finish and production is done by computerized hammering (Pressure Point Technology is another way Meinl produces cymbals). The company promises it will extend this line with more cymbals soon.

The clarity of the cymbals is rather new to the Meinl cymbal lines. With a more 'regular' sound the cymbals can be used in any style of music easily. Watch the videos to hear the definition of the cymbals, and the live on-site sounds at the NAMM Show in the video below.
