At the 2015 Winter NAMM Show, percussion brand Gon Bops focused on compact and portable hand percussion, most notably with the new El Flaco practice cajon, and the Commuter cajon.
El Flaco practice cajon Gon Bops' El Flaco practice cajon is ultra-thin and ultra-portable: it features a thin 2.5"-depth design plus an attached seat pad so that your body weight keeps the playing surface stable during play. Full dimensions (L x H x D): 11.75" x 18.25" x 2.5".
Complete with a backpack gig bag, the El Flaco practice cajon model CJEFL is available with a good-looking Coffee Stain finish and has a street price of $89 USD.
Commuter cajon Building further on compactness and easy transportation, Gon Bops unveiled the new Commuter cajon model CJCOM at NAMM 2015. Fully collapsible, this cajon fits smartly into a backpack for transport to gigs, rehearsals and sessions.
Ideal for urban musicians who commute by bike, public transportation or small vehicle, the Commuter also fits easily into overhead luggage compartments for frequent flyers. Dimensions when fully assembled: 11.75" x 20" x 11.5" (L x H x D).
Diagonally placed internal guitar strings provide authentic Flamenco tones, while deep resonant chamber offers loud, tight bass. The Gon Bops Commuter cajon has a street price around $299 USD, gig bag included.
Wood tambourines Gon Bops also launched its first four models of wood tambourines. Made of 7-ply basswood, these lightweight models are available with single or double rows of jingles, as well as headed and non-headed models. The headless single-row jingles are steel, while the headed double-row jingles are steel and brass. The tambourines are modeled after the original Ludwig tambourines and all include a finger hole for ease of grip and control.
