Paiste launched many new cymbals for 2015. This article covers the PSTX series, the trashy effect sound cymbals. Tobias Ralph and Stewart Copeland demo the cymbals for you in two videos. The PSTX is a full line of effect cymbals, and it features the Pure Bells made of aluminum. It is the first time ever that Paiste uses aluminum in the production of cymbals. The effect is just as good and surprising as with the other cymbals in the PSTX line. And this series has a lot of cymbals. In the videos you find the demos, here is the complete line of cymbals, or, maybe better put, the line of holes made of 2002 bronze and brass.
Other great news is that all these PSTX cymbals are at a very affordable price level. This means you don't have to invest big time to have interesting sound effects in your setup. The core of the PSTX series is made up of the Swiss models, cymbals that achieve a noisy, dirty, trashy sound quality by the use of specific layouts and varied sizes for the holes. Paiste recommends you try to combine and stack all the cymbals to create cool and dry but noisy sound effects. And that is just what they do.

Swiss thin crashes Available in 14", 16" and 18".
Swiss Splash Only available in 10". With very light accents and a short cut.
Flanger Crash A 14" crash, and like the Splash very good for playing with your hands as well.
Swiss Hats Available in 10", 14" and 16".
Swiss Flanger Stack The 14" Swiss Flanger Stack has both cymbals mounted with the bells facing up.
Pure Bells Made of aluminum, these 9" and 10" bells are also cool to have in your setup. The first time ever for Paiste to use this metal. Aluminum has a very low density and can resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. That means it is less affected by environmental factors such as air and water. In short: even when made of aluminum, Paiste has another metal in their catalog that will stand the test of time, the weather and your playing!
