Kerope
Kerope (pronounced: Kĕ rop´) is the new full line to Zildjian's legacy K family of cymbals. It is named Kerope in honor of Kerope Zildjian, who presided over one of the most storied periods in Zildjian history. From 1865 until his death in 1909 in Constantinople, Kerope continued to develop the classic K. Zildjian sound. In memory of Kerope’s contribution to cymbal making and his deep commitment to craftsmanship, the Zildjian family launched a line of cymbals that includes 14" and 15" hats as well as 18", 19", 20" and 22" models.

Zildjian's R&D department 'Sound Lab', named as such by Armand Zildjian in 1977, collaborated with Zach Danziger to design the new line of Kerope cymbals. Exhaustive research into cymbals dating back to the 1950s and 1960s was critical in capturing the authentic look, feel, and sound of K Zildjian cymbals, renowned for their rich, dark tones and crafted, old world appearance.

In the first video you see and hear Paul Francis, Director of Research & Design/Quality at Zildjian, demoing the Kerope cymbals. the specialist made sure everybody understood clearly that the bell makes that every cymbal has its own individualistic sound, while still fitting perfectly in the Kerope range.

Oversized K models and EFX
The second video contains the demo of the new oversized K models and a 10" A Custom EFX model. Paul Francis demos the following cymbals:

• 20" K Dark Thin Crash
  
• 16" K Light Hi-hats; same dark, light blend of overtones associated with the classic 14" K Light Hats but now with more volume and a lot more wash
  
• 10" A custom EFX; paper thin weight and laser generated cut outs that allow it to produce quick, trashy, white noise effects

Gen16 Buffed Bronze Cymbals
During the press meeting at NAMM 2014, Vice President New Business and Product Development John Roderick explained everything about the new Gen16 Buffed Bronze Cymbals. The most important goal was to improve the acoustic sound of the cymbals. For that, several changes were made to the first Gen16 cymbals:

• the contours of the bell were changed
  
• Zildjian eliminated the nickel plating and gave it additional lathing on the larger size models
  
• they have a rich buffed bronze finish to give the cymbals a warmer tone
  
• This all produces a richer sound; make the sound of the cymbals a little lower, resulting in more natural sounding cymbals.

• Zildjian expanded the capabilities of the Gen16 Digital Sound Processor (DSP)
  
• the pickup now has an enhanced DSP based on the new expanded EQ
  
• The final result: more natural sounding cymbals with a wider range with the tone shaping you have in the Digital Cymbal Processor (DCP)

Chris Ryan, digital music technology consultant, demos the Gen16 cymbals in several styles like rock and pop and the many different sounds you can make with the bronze cymbals.
