"Unlike standard piezo drum pads, there is no vibration interaction because the inHead incorporates FSR (force sensor resistor), which responds to pressure not acoustic vibration, as is the case with a piezo type system. The result is clean, dynamic response throughout the entire drum head without any crosstalk."
The new onHeads/inHead Mutes come in handy when you want to deaden the sound of your acoustic/hybrid drumhead. The onHead/inHead Mute is a removable pad that fits into the rim of your drums, significantly reducing the sound of the acoustic drum while still offering sensitive triggering. The pad is made of filled neoprene, a couple of centimetres thick and playing it feels somewhere in between hitting mesh heads and rubber pads.
Along with the InHead, Aquarian offers the rimShot: an FSR trigger that attaches to the rim of your acoustic drum. It can be a standalone trigger when used with the inBox or can be used in conjunction with the inHead so that the acoustic drummer can naturally use the head and rim for playing.
Aquarian's hotSpot is an FSR sensor that attaches to the acoustic head of the bass drum for accurate triggering while still maintaining the original sound and feel of the acoustic drum head. Like the inHead, the hotSpot attaches to the inBox to connect to the outside world.
The inHeads and onHeads will be shipping in April.
Power Trio: new Aquarian drumheads
Aquarian also introduced its Power Trio: it consists of a Triple Threat snare head, a Super-Kick 10 bassdrum head and the Force Ten tom heads.
To start with the latter: Force Ten heads are molded with two plies of 10mil Full-Range drum head film. Aquarian's Force Tens are powerful and durable heads for tom toms, designed to have more attack, depth and durability than conventional two ply tom tom heads. These tom tom heads can be used in a variety of musical settings but are particularly well suited for louder, extreme drumming such as metal. Available as clear and as texture coated.
Aquarian's Super-Kick 10 is a clear, double ply bass drum head that features two plies of 10mil drum head film for extra strength, extra depth and an intense attack. A narrow felt muffle ring is attached to the backside of the drum head to produce a low-end, tight punchy sound.
The new Triple Threat snare drum head has become possible by Aquarian's advanced molding procedure called "Triple Ply Technology". Three plies of 7mil Full-Range drum head film are molded to act as one powerful, strong and durable snare drum head. Yet it's surprisingly sensitive.
This snare head can be used in a variety of musical settings but is particularly aimed for for louder, extreme drumming.
