Danny Carey signature snare drum
Tool drummer Danny Carey’s new signature snare drum is the first in a new line. It is constructed of a 1 mm bronze shell and comes with Artist Series snare drum style lugs. The 2.3 mm power hoops allow the snare to breath open.
All hardware comes in chrome finish. With a diameter of 14” and a depth of 8”, it pays homage to the vintage signature line snare drum that Danny has preferred throughout his career. The shell is covered by unique talisman symbols between the lugs.
Also engraved around the air hole is Danny’s signature, giving the signature snare drum his final, personal touch. It has \"a powerful, but still versatile sound”, according to Danny.
The snare can be tuned high or low without losing the specific, warm sound of bronze sound in combination with the full-bodied shell sound. When tuned high, a nice crack is added. Tune it low and find yourself immersed in Danny’s sound sphere. Says Thomas Barth, Sonor’s International Artist Relation Manager:
“This drum landmarks a complete new field for us at Sonor. We are known for a hi-level artist roster in the drum scene including many great names and also great personalities. It is the first Signature Snare Drum we are introducing and I am proud that Danny has put his passion and love into the entire development of this beautiful drum.\"
The Danny Carey signature snare drum (Item No: SSD 09 1408 DC) is available at most music retail stores starting February/March 2009.
New Force 3007 rock set configurations
The people at Sonor have expanded the Force 3007 Maple and Birch series with new kit configurations as well as new high gloss finishes. The Rock Set configuration comes with an extra deep 22\" x 20\" Bass Drum (without mount) for more low end, a shallow 12\" x 8\" Tom Tom, a 16\" x 16\" Floor Tom as well as a 14\" x 6\" Snare Drum. Lots of new finishes
Sonor introduced a lot of new finishes for most of their series. New finishes for Force 3007 maple kits include Smooth Red Burst, Black Red Sparkle (black shell hardware), Orange Sparkle Fade (black shell hardware) and Smooth Brown Burst. The new finishes for Force 3007 birch kits include the high gloss Dark Green Burst and the Natural Fade finish.
Two new finishes, Smooth Red and Snow White have been developed to round out the color spectrum of the Force 1007 Series. Sonor\'s Snow White finish comes exclusively with black shell hardware.
Brushed Blue is the newly added finish in Sonor\'s Force 507 Series.
Sonor added four finishes to the S Classix Series. First is the Stratawood veneer in satin gloss, which comes from Sonor\'s custom SQ2 Series. The others are Delmar wraps: Black Silver Glass Glitter (from extreme smooth silver to black fade), Gold Glass Glitter, and Gold Oyster.
And last but not least: two finishes from Sonor\'s custom SQ2 Series have been added to the Delite Series: the Tiger finish and the Ebony finish. Both are wood veneers with high gloss.
New at Winter NAMM 2009 was the addition of a basic arm microphone adapter (BA-MA) to Sonor’s accessory line. The adapter will enable you to place your microphone (or even e-pads with a 3/8\" thread or with an optional thread adapter) anywhere you want on your drum kit.
New Armoni crashes
Sonor also presented new crash models for their Armoni Cymbals. These hand hammered Cymbals are made exclusively for Sonor out of B20 Bronze (a Mix of 80% Copper and 20% Tin) by a traditional Turkish cymbal company. New sizes have been added to the line of crash cymbals: 15\", 17\", and 19\".
