Yuri, also playing in Melechesh, parted ways with Thanatos in December 2009 and was followed up by Marco de Groot of Houwitser repute.

The band has issued the following update:

"Although 2011 was another tough and bumpy year in the now 28-years-long history of Thanatos, we're still here. (...) Although Yuri won't be joining the band on a full-time basis, he will be there to help us out at upcoming live shows and possibly new recordings."

Thanatos' latest full-length album, 'Justified Genocide', was released in March 2009 through Dutch label Deity Down Records.

The cd was recorded at Excess studios in Rotterdam, Netherlands and was mixed by Dan Swanö (Nightingale, Edge Of Sanity and Bloodbath fame) at Unisound in Sweden.
