"When I got the invitation to join Sepultura, I was in shock. I've been a fan of the band for years; it'll be an honor to play with them."
Jean has released the following statement regarding his departure from Sepultura:
"Life comes in phases and I decided to start a new one. (...) From now on I'll focus on my work as a musician, producer and music teacher in São Paulo. I'll keep working on my project with Indireto [the Brazilian experimental project featuring Dolabella and Scarcéus guitarist Augusto Nogueira] and others that are already coming along."
Jean also affirms he is in great shape, and that his arm is fine. The drummer was forced to sit out several shows on Sepultura's recent European tour because he was suffering from muscle pain in his arms. Jean's temporary replacement was Amilcar Christófaro from the Brazilian thrash band Torture Squad.
