Maayan Migdal has invented and constructed a remarkable drum set featuring no drums at all: his Air Drums are based on a simple MIDI device, three accelerometers, a light sensor, a USB hub and Arduino, the open-source electronic prototyping platform allowing to create interactive electronic objects.

Maayan Migdal has also used of a pair of garden rakes, and a pair of flip-flops. The rakes were cut down and modified to allow the addition of accelerometers and some USB cables and now serve as his drum sticks.
The left stick contains a single accelerometer for registering hi-hat hits, while the right stick is armed with a pair of the modules, which are used to trigger snare and crash symbol strikes.
Maayan also modified a pair of sandals. He stuck a sensor into each of his flip-flops. The left sandal contains an accelerometer to register bass drum hits, while the right shoe uses a light sensor to simulate the use of a hi-hat pedal.
