Drummer Matthew Helders and his band Arctic Monkeys plus Ian Matthews and Kasabian are leading the nominations field for the Shockwaves NME Awards 2010. Both being up for six gongs including Best Band, Best Album and Best Live Band. Muse, featuring Dominic Howard on drums and percussion, have also fared well, being up for Best Band, Best Album (for \'The Resistance\') and Best Album Artwork.

This year\'s event is set to take place at the O2 Academy Brixton in London on February 24, 2010.
Last year Muse won three awards including those as Best Live Band and Best Artwork.
Arctic Monkeys were the big winner in 2008 with three awards; as Best Band, Best Song and Best Video.
Lady Gaga, backed up live by drummer Andreas Brobjer, is not only nominated as Best Solo Artist, but also as Worst Dressed and Villain Of The Year.
