Drummers from a high school in Rock Hill, South Carolina claim they\'ve set a world record for the longest single drum roll . The students sustained a drum roll on one snare drum for 27 hours and 23 seconds this past weekend.The students tried to raise money to buy new equipment for Rock Hill High\'s Band of Distinction. They collected about $3,600 with the fundraising event.
Of all the students who took turns, junior Jason Piers played longest: he drum rolled for 4 hours and 10 minutes. This is believed to be 2 minutes longer than any other single-person drum roll.
But Jason\'s feat may not be officially recognized because he didn\'t fill out the necessary paperwork with Guinness in advance. He\'s got video of his single roll and is going to explore his options to see if Guinness will accept it anyway.
Senior student Ryli “Pop” Schmiedel brought the long journey to an end with a final strike of the snare at 8 pm on Saturday morning.
