Five awards for Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Both singers won all five Grammys they were nominated for: country collaboration with vocals, contemporary folk/Americana album, pop collaboration with vocals, record of the year for Please Read The Letter, and album of the year for the critically acclaimed \'Raising Sand\'.
Lil Wayne New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne was the leading nominee with eight nominations. Eventually he won three Grammy awards: for best rap solo performance, best rap song plus \'Tha Carter III\' - featuring drums by Darius \"Deezle\" Harrison and Swizz Beatz plus Kanye West among others as producers - was awarded as rap album of the year.
Coldplay British rock band Coldplay, nominated seven times, also had to settle for a trio of awards. Drummer Will Champion and his band won Grammys for best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals, and song of the year (Viva La Vida) plus best rock album (for \'Viva La Vida\').
Adele British pop singer Adele was named best new artist; She also picked up the award for best female pop vocal performance for her hit Chasing Pavements.
Duffy Duffy bagged a Grammy for \'Rockferry\', featuring Makoto Sakamoto, Martin Slattery and Bernard Butler on drums, as best pop vocal album.
More Grammy award winners Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain worked with Mickey Hart of the rock band Grateful Dead, Nigerian percussionist Sikiru Adepoju and Puerto Rican jazz percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo for the album \'Global Drum Project\' and they took away the award for best contemporary world music album.
Jazz drummer Jack DeJohnette picked up a Grammy in the category beste new age album, for \'Peace Time\'.
Lars Ulrich and his fellow rockers of Metallica cashed two Grammy awards: as best metal performance (My Apocalypse, from their album \'Death Magnetic\') and as best recording package.
Daft Punk, the duo consisting of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, won two Grammy Awards for \'Alive 2007\' and its single Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger as best electronic/dance album and best dance recording, respectively.

Live collaborations The many live performances that took up most of the evening\'s screen time. Collaboration seemed the theme of this year\'s Grammys. Radiohead performed with the University of Southern California marching band USC Trojan, Foo Fighter\'s Dave Grohl joined Sir Paul McCartney on drums to add extra thunder to I Saw Her Standing There, and the Jonas Brothers were joined by Motown legend Stevie Wonder - to give you a few examples of unique collaborations.
