And the only prescription is more cowbell!\" Those famous words spoken by Christopher Walken in the classic Saturday Night Live sketch were taken to new lengths this weekend. On December 14, 2008, Paul Green School of Rock Music attempted to set a world record for the most cowbells playing live during a single-song performance (Don\'t Fear The Reaper, indeed!).
\"It took weeks of international faxes, phone calls and paper work but the people from Guinness World Records finally approved the attempt... We had 100 cowbells that we got from a novelty company in Chicago who let us have them at a good price. And Pro-Mark drumsticks contributed fifty pairs of sticks to supplement the sticks that the School of Rock will provide.\"
North Kansas City Judge Stephen Fuller and KCFX-FM personality Doug Medlock were on hand to make sure all the records were recorded properly and Time Warner Cable provided the media video corroboration needed by Guinness World Records.
The office of Guinness World Records, based in London, will verify the attempt within 6 weeks.
