Eric Gaffney co-founded Sebadoh in 1986, along with Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr. and Jason \"Jake\" Loewenstein. The trio\'s first widely released album, 1991\'s \"Sebadoh III,\" is considered by many critics to be one of indie rock\'s definitive albums.
A digitally remastered version of that 23-track record with a bonus disc was released earlier in 2006 on the Domino label. The bonus material includes an additional 18 previously unreleased songs, a few remixes and demos.
Drummer Gaffney left Sebadoh in 1993. He was replaced by Bob Fay, who first appeared on the band\'s most acclaimed and consistent effort, 1994\'s \" Bakesale\", and the follow-up \"Harmacy\" in 1996.
Fay left the band before the sessions for \"The Sebadoh\" (1999), to be replaced by Russ Pollard. However, following the tour to promote this album, Sebadoh went on hiatus.
