Whether it was Kaiser Chiefs\' exiting performance of I Predict A Riot at the opening, Gorillaz multi-media extravaganza, or the simple pleasures of James Blunt’s live version of Beautiful, the 2006 edition of the Brit Awards had something for everyone.
The biggest winners were Kaiser Chiefs, featuring drummer Nick Hodgson (photo): they scooped three awards.
The Leeds lads walked away with an award as Best British Group, Best British Rock Act and Best Live Act.
2005’s darling James Blunt took home two awards: as Best British Male Solo Artist and Best Pop Act.
So did Coldplay: they picked up two awards, for Best British Album (\"X&Y\") and Best British Single (Speed of Sound).
Green Day were also double winners taking Best International Group and Best International Album (\"American Idiot\").
Arctic Monkeys won Best British Breakthrough Act.
KT Tunstall came home with Best British Female and Madonna was the Best International Female.
Paul Weller received his Outstanding Contribution to British music award.
