Melissa Auf Der Maur, former bassist of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins, has asked Pumpkins singer and guitarist Billy Corgan, to help write songs for her second solo album. \"I\'ve never actually written a song with him. I\'ve written half the album on my own — but I\'m looking to really be kicked in the ass and whipped into a much better songwriter.\"
Auf der Maur released her self-titled solo debut in 2004. The album featured guest drummers Brant Bjork, John Stanier, Adam “Atom” Willard and Jordon Zadorozny .
Auf der Maur said she hopes to complete her new album by the end of 2005 and begin touring in the spring of 2006. She added that she would also be available for a Smashing Pumpkins reunion.
In related Smashing Pumpkins news: in January 2006 Reignition Recordings will release a tribute album, entitled \"The Killer In You: A Tribute To Smashing Pumpkins\". The 11-song collection is already available exclusively via iTunes and will be released via all other digital music sites later this month. The track listing includes interpretations by Poison The Well, Hopesfall and Eighteen Visions.
