Rick Beato is one of the best in covering music insights on all levels of our profession on YouTube. He covers topics any musician needs to hear. Always with fresh enthusiasm, he is one to follow actively instead of running into by scrolling around. Besides the obvious on all drums, music and other instruments related on YouTube, Rick Beato gives you new and creative thoughts on music and recording. Here is a rundown of our Rick-Favs. And yes, he plays a tight groove on the drums!
We were planning it for some months now, but with Rick nailing those 1,000,000 subscribers, we couldn't delay an article on him and his drum videos anymore.
Some channels on YouTube you just have to subscribe to and turn the notifications on. Not only because it will teach you things, but also because you can disagree on it. Like in the first video below where Rick in his Top 20 Drum Intros of all Time states that Led Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks has the best drum intro of all time.
In many of his videos, Rick covers a lot of ground on many different drummers in even more music styles. He goes from Steve Gadd to Rush drummer Neil Peart to Dave Grohl. Or from Stevie Wonder to U2's Larry Mullen Jr. and of course mentions Jeff Porcaro and, the Jazz man he actually is, Billy Cobham.
Some of his best videos also cover plenty of recording insights. And those are lessons you want to hear, take with you, remember, and then do something different with it. Let us watch some Rick Beato on Drums now. And as said, we recommend watching his non-drum videos as well.
