Legends Series Awards
World's Fastest Drummer (WFD), producer Jack Propps, and event sponsor, Church's Chicken, have teamed up to honor three living legends of drumming. This year's recipients of the WFD-Church's Chicken Legends Series Awards are D.J. Fontana (Elvis), WS Holland (Cash), and Richie Albright (Waylon).

"If it were not for these three drummers doing what they love to do back in the day, we at WFD could not do all the crazy stuff we are doing today. Heck, without these guys, Rock And Roll, Country and OutLaw music would not be what it is today."

D.J. Fontana – Elvis' drummer
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, 2009. D.J. was hired in 1955 as Elvis' drummer, expanding the group to a four-piece band. He remained with Elvis throughout the 50s. During the 60s, when Elvis turned his attention to making movies, D.J. was still present at many of his Nashville recording sessions.

WS Holland – Johnny Cash's drummer
Holland is known world-wide as a pioneer in Rock & Roll music. He played drums on all of Carl Perkins' Sun Records hits, including the industry anthem, “Blue Suede Shoes.” He also played drums on the iconic Million Dollar Quartet session that included Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash on December 4, 1956. Holland spent 40 years as Cash's only drummer.

Richie Albright – Waylon Jennings' drummer
Richie Albright made history as a drummer, songwriter and producer. The list of artists he played with includes: Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams, Jr. Richie produced and played on Waylon's 1980 #1 single, “Theme from Dukes of Hazzard (Good Ol' Boys).” His professional career spans over 50 years and 40 albums. He is still going strong producing and performing.

In support of the Legends Series and community music education, Church's Chicken will donate $1,000 in each award recipient's name to Nashville's W.O. Smith Music School

• Thursday 9th and Friday 10th Preliminaries are for NAMM Members only.
  
• Saturday 11th is open to the public with a NAMM Music Industry Day ticket.
  WFD will have public preliminaries starting at 10:00 a.m. and running till 1:00 pm.
  
• World Finals Battle is at 2:00 pm Saturday July 11th.

Contestants should sign in at World's Fastest Drummer Contest stage area located at the Level 3, A1 Lobby of the Music City Center starting the morning of Thursday, July 11th.
