Saturday, March 21st will see the return of the National Learn to Play Day in the United Kingdom. This is your chance to get a free taster lesson and discover how awesome it is to play drums or percussion! Now in its fourth year, the day looks set to be its biggest outing to date.
On the National Learn to Play Day musical instrument retailers from all over the UK open their doors to the public and offer free taster lessons to new and lapsed musicians to get them playing an instrument and, hopefully, buying from their stores.
Some smaller retailers who don’t have the space to operate such an event on their own shop floor, have teamed up with local shopping centres, community centres and rehearsal/recording spaces. You can find your nearest participating venue at this webpage.
Furthermore, this year, dealers have the option of running the event on the Sunday instead of the Saturday. And those who are really keen have the option of running it on both, so the programme really is more flexible than ever.
Part of this year's National Learn to Play Day will be a special taster session with drummer Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter, Bullet for my Valentine, Killing Joke, etc) will be holding a live session for beginners at 11 am, as well as free one-to-one lessons throughout the day.
Jason's set will be taking place at Professional Music Technology, 136 Lawley Middleway in Birmingham.
