Legendary Latin drummer Lucas van Merwijk celebrates the 20th anniversary of his Salsa and Latin Jazz Big Band Cubop City Big Band with a 3CD box with three special musical themes. Disc one features the music of Tito Rodriguez, disc two the Latin side of Earth Wind & Fire and the third will have the music of Thelonious Monk in a Latin Jazz Big Band setting. Due to the lack of cultural grants in The Netherlands the past years, the band is asking for your help to get this master project on the road. On Kickstarter You can pledge to support from $1 for updates on the project up to $6,000 and have the complete Big Band play at your house.
The prestigous 3cd box will be named 'Yesterday Today Tomorrow'. All the recordings for the 3cd box will be new. For the big band arrangements the band calls upon the talents of three great arrangers: the legendary Colombian arranger Edy Martinez who contributed to some of the band's previous albums, Marc Bischoff and Thelonious Monk Award winner Ilja Reijngoud.
