Ddrum - with the first D standing for digital - has returned to its roots and now puts focus on hybrid drummers, who incorporate both acoustic and electronic sounds in their set-up. Felix Deluna, who handles Artist Relations for Ddrum, shows what's new for 2014 at the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California.
Chrome Elite drum triggers Ddrum has been making triggers since 1983. Their new Chrome Elite drum triggers are based on industry-standard Acoustic Pro triggers but improved in a number of ways. In fact, the advanced Chrome Elite drum triggers represent Ddrum's pinnacle of trigger construction and performance – in a fresh chrome finish, with improved wiring harness and transducer for even better tracking.
Ddrum Tube The Ddrum Tube marks the return of an original Ddrum design. Basically it's a percussion add-on that's as easy to incorporate as a cowbell or tambourine, but the trigger tube allows you to access a lot more sounds. Why settle for a cowbell if you can bring an entire percussion ensemble, right? Street price is $79 USD.
DD2X The new DD2X consists of four pads and a brain. This digital drum four-pad station features dual zone pads, the DD3X module and is easily expandible with five more inputs. Perfect if you want to start playing a hybrid kit and bring some electronic aesthetics into your acoustic playing. Street price is $499 USD.
DDTI The DDTI is Ddrum's new Trigger Interface with Sound Source. It connects to both software like Superior Drummer, Logic, and Garageband, and hardware based sources. It will also come in handy if you want to extend an existing module to get more inputs. Street price is $149 USD.
DD5X Ddrum's all-new DD5X electronic drum set is the company's first high-end model in years. Ddrum hasn't done much in the way of electronic drums in the last decade, but the company is clearly ready to to get back into the edrum market with this high performance 6-piece digital electronic percussion drum set.
The DD5X kit has dual-zone tom pads, a triple-zone snare pad, choke-able cymbal pads, a bell on the ride cybal and many other features. If you live outside the United States, you can order a mesh head version of the Ddrum DD5X. It's expected to be shipping in April. The price, according to Ddrum, is $1,399.00 USD.
