Among the confirmed bands for 2013 are Deep Purple, Anthrax, Nightwish, Sabaton, Arch Enemy, Lingua Mortis orchestra featuring Rage, and Subway To Sally. Doro will perform a special 30th anniversary show, Amorphis will also give a special acoustic show.

Tickets for Wacken 2013 will be personalized, in order to enable the festival to take legal action against scalpers and Ebay-hustlers.

The original Wacken ticket will exclusively be sold on www.metaltix.com. A ticket costs 140 euros plus 10 euros pre-sale fee plus postage. Each purchaser can only order 5 tickets. Shipping starts in the middle of august 2013.

As last year, WOA 2012 had 75.000 paying visitors plus around 10.000 additional participants like artists, service providers, crew, press and media people, the so-called VIPs, medical and security teams.

On a very sad note: the German Red Cross has announced a tragic accident took place on the camping ground of Wacken Open Air 2012.

As far as is known now, a festival guest laid down on canvas-covered trailer, where he fell asleep. A power generator was also located underneath the cover and running, filling the space between trailer and canvas with poisonous carbon monoxide.

As it appears, the person on the trailer was breathing in this gas and consequently died. After approximately two hours, the friends of the deceased went looking and discovered the lifeless body under the canvas on the trailer.

Emergency services and doctor were called immediately, but couldn‘t successfully resuscitate the person.

The State Attorney has started investigations.
