Bent Bristle Brush The Bent Bristle Brush was designed with drummer Russ Miller to produce innovative sounds and is fully retractable.
The bent bristle design allows for two distinctively different tonalities. The bristles can be positioned facing downward for maximum articulation, or positioned flat on the head for extra full tones due to the high amount of surface contact area. The Bent Bristle Brush also features a copper band on the butt-end to allow for bright metallic effects on instruments. The comfortable rubber handles ensure a full grip.
Miller said, “\"The B3 Brush is what I have been waiting for! Being a fan of the brushes, I have always tried to use them in electric settings. This has always been a problem because of two factors: The sweep would not cut through the amplified music, and I couldn\'t get full crash sounds. The B3 solves these problems. The slight bend applies more bristle to the head and almost triples the sweep volume. The stiffer bristles had high-mid frequencies that cut through and add stability. The metal band on the retractable handle allows you to play great bell sounds and full crash sounds. Engineers love them! The B3 brushes make using brush techniques possible in contemporary music!\"
Along with the new Zildjian Bent Bristle Brush, Zildjian also offers the Zildjian Retractable Brushes and the Fixed Wire Brushes in its Brushes and Specialty Sticks category.
John Riley Double The new John Riley Double, a stick-mallet combo, combines the acclaimed bead of Riley’s Artist Series Drumstick and Zildjian’s popular seamless felt head.
Riley’s new stick-mallet is extremely versatile, featuring an acorn bead tip, natural finish, 0.550” diameter, 161/4” length and is made from 100% American Hickory. In addition to standard drumstick playing, the John Riley Double is ideal for a number of techniques including cymbal swells and muted tom fills.
Riley said, “Zildjian cymbals give me the broadest musical palette. My new combination stick-mallet adds a great lush sonic dimension when played on the drums and the cymbals.”
Grammy award winning recording artist, John Riley, is enjoying a stellar career as a jazz drummer, including gigs and recordings with artists such as John Scofield, Mike Stern, Woody Herman, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz and Miles Davis. He currently performs regularly with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Bob Mintzer, Jon Faddis and Joe Lovano. John is on the faculty of Manhattan School of Music and SUNY-Purchase and has written three critically acclaimed books about jazz drumming – “The Art of Bop Drumming,” “Beyond Bop Drumming” and “The Jazz Drummer’s Workshop.” He is also a winner of the 2004 and 2005 Modern Drummer Magazine Readers Poll.
The John Riley Double is the latest in a line of combination sticks available from Zildjian. The Dennis Chambers DC Double and Travis Barker Double feature their respective Artist Series drumsticks combined with a felt mallet head on the butt-end. Zildjian also has also recently created the retractable Zildjian Bent Bristle Brush with noted drummer Russ Miller to produce innovative sounds.
Trigger Stick The latest addition to the line of ANTI-VIBE™ drumsticks is the Trigger Stick. Designed primarily for use on electronic drum kits, the Trigger Stick features Zildjian’s popular vibration dampening technology for maximum comfort and control.
The Trigger Stick features full sized dimensions for comfort with a short taper down to a small round bead for pinpoint accuracy. The Trigger Stick is crafted from U.S. Select Hickory for excellent response and durability.
John Sorenson, Director of Manufacturing, said, “All the design elements of the Trigger Stick combine to make a truly unique stick that is unsurpassed in its application for use on most electronic kits. The ANTI-VIBE™ feature can really be advantageous in this setting. We also found the stick to be very good on acoustic kits as well.”
Available in 12 different Zildjian drumstick models, Zildjian ANTI-VIBE™ has been gaining in popularity since its introduction in January of 2003 for its patented technology that effectively reduces unwanted vibrations in the struck stick. The stick maintains it’s conventional lacquer finish and appearance, while the vibration absorption technology is contained out of the way, inside the butt-end of the stick. Since their introduction, Zildjian ANTI-VIBE™ has won “Best Drumstick” honors with the prestigious 2003 MIPA Award at the Frankfurt Musik Messe and the 2003 DRUM! Magazine Readers Poll award.
