The Tama NAMM celebration
Tama's first 40th celebration took place at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California in January. The evening contained a full video history of the Japanese drum company on two big screens on the side of the stage. Performances from the great Billy Cobham, Lenny White, Simon Phillips, Charlie Benante, Mike Portnoy, George "Spanky" McCurdy and Matthew Garstka. Blake Richardson, Ronald Bruner Jr., John Blackwell, Billy Rymer and Rayford Griffin performed the Grand Finale. Stewart Copeland, as intermission, did a great act telling how much he is in love with Tama.

This was one of the best evenings at NAMM in years, and it didn't take much imagination to figure out Billy Cobham would be returning to his beloved brand in this same year.

New Tama Star Hardware at the Messe
Although not directly related -the new Tama Star line was introduced in 2013, Tama introduced new hardware at the Frankfurter Music Messe in March for the flagship line of their drum catalogue. The last video on the right has the rundown of the new gear, live from the Messe.

Tama 40th Anniversary Drum Festival
And then... on July the 5th, the distribution part of the Meinl Company organized the 'Tama 40th Anniversary Drum Festival'. With a line-up of incredible drummers from Germany, Austria and Poland, headlined by Simon Phillips and Ronald Bruner Jr.

40 Years 'Greatest Hits' Snare Collection (last video)
Tama's extremely limited, but very cool line of snare drums this year. The video is from NAMM 2014 and Jeroen Bakx from Tama distributor Hoshino Benelux tells you all about it, including how many of these snares are available.

The Silverstar Cocktail-Jam Kit
The portable Tama kit and the most remarkable feature at NAMM was the introduction of the Cocktail-Jam Kit. It can easily be set up and played with a drum throne in a much narrower space than a custom drum set. The Cocktail-Jam kit and hardware can be completely packed up in just two bags, which are included with the kit.
