Just in time for the NAMM 2013 show, Brian Spaun, president and ceo of Spaun Drum Company, introduced his latest release: very limited edition tamo ash/maple drums. Only ten kits are being built worldwide.
It features a tamo ash (Japanese ash) face with maple core, exotic Abalone shell pinstripe inlays and a multi-step, high gloss finish.
A limited edition badge and serial numbers are added to each kit. All will be dated, numbered, and recorded in Spaun Drum Copmany's record books.
The kit is sold as a shell pack (no hardware) with 7x10 and 8x12 inch rack toms, 12x14 and 14x16 inch floor toms and an 18x22 inch kick drum.
It also features Spaun's proprietary SBR solid brass resonator lugs, double 45 degree bearing edges, and SSS mounts on rack toms.
There's an optional matching 6x14 inch snare drum with die cast hoops. For a limited time, get the matching snare drum for 50% off when you order this kit.
MSRP is estimated at $8595, street price is set on $5586. With only ten kits being built worldwide, this is sure to be a collector's item and will without doubt grow in value over time.
In September 2012 Brian also introduced a new cymbal brand called Scymtek (short for Spaun Cymbal Teknologies), starting with four series. All Scymtek cymbals are 100% hand hammered and hand crafted from B20 bronze.
