Gretsch Drums, the company that has been building drums since 1883, will present new brushed brass snare drums at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany.
The new 14 x 5.5 and 14 x 6.5 inch snares combine the pure sound of a brass shell with the look and feel of a boutique hand-finished shell.
Hand brushing means that no two shells have exactly the same in appearance, which adds to the appeal of the drums.
The 1.0 mm thick beaded brass shell produces a full-bodied snare drum tone with a wide tuning range. According to Gretsch, the new snare is suitable for any musical setting.
The new Gretsch snare drums feature chrome hardware, Gretsch 5473 lugs, a 30 degree bearing edge, 2.3mm triple-flanged, Gretsch Classic Deluxe throw off, and comes with Evans G1 coated heads.
Price of the 14 x 5.5 inch Gretsch brushed brass snare drum wil be somewhere near $426 USD (£269 or € 323) and $442 USD (£279 or € 335) for the 14 x 6.5 inch model - all exclusive VAT.
