Gene Markiewicz, one of Indianapolis’ most respected drummers and percussion educators, will be inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation Hall Of Fame on November 17.

Gene Markiewicz has performed with many artists including Jim Edison, Al Cobine, Bill Lancton, The Buselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Trombononomous.
He has co-led the award winning Carter/Markiewicz Jazz Quartet with late jazz legend Chuck Carter.
Currently, Gene co-leads the Farrelly/Markiewicz Jazz Quartet with saxophonist Jim Farrelly.
Gene is a frequent guest on Have You Heard, a jazz listening radio program on WICR.
Gene is also an educator supported by the Ludwig Drum Company, Bosphorus Cymbals, and Vic Firth, and involved with several community programs. Annually he is a faculty member of the University of Indianapolis Jazz Combo Camp held in the summer.
