Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga has suffered a minor stroke. He fell ill following a gig in their home town of Des Moines, Iowa last week. Stone Sour have announced they are forced to cancel all the remaining dates of their current US headlining tour, effective immediately."It is with regret that we have decided to cancel the remaining dates on our current headline tour. Our friend and drummer, Roy Mayorga, suffered a minor stroke a couple of nights ago after our show in Des Moines. He’s doing great and is expected to make a 100-percent recovery. We apologize to all the fans and look forward to getting back out on the road with Roy in the coming months."
Roy Mayorga joined Stone Sour in 2006 after the band's previous drummer, Joel Ekman, left the group in order to spend time with his nine-year-old son, who was diagnosed with brain cancer.
This isn't the first major setback of Stone Sour's tour, however; a month ago, the band announced that bassist Shawn Economaki had gone home "for personal issues". They've been touring with a temporary replacement bassist since then.
The new health crisis comes a year after Taylor's Slipknot bandmate Paul Gray lost his life after overdosing in a hotel room.
