Two-time Grammy winner and former drummer for The Band, Levon Helm, was hospitalized yesterday, but is expected to make a full recovery. Barbara O'Brien, the 70-year-old drummer's manager, explains:"Levon came down with a little bit of a cold this week and because he's got COPD [chronic obstructive pulmonary disease], a little bit of a cold to you and me is a lot more serious for him. We took him to the hospital today. He's going to be fine."
Levon Helm was supposed to play at Saturday night's Midnight Ramble house concert at Levon Helm Studios in New York City. The show went on, with Levon Helm Studios chief engineer Justin Guip filling in on drums.
Levon Helm is a throat cancer survivor who mounted a colossal comeback in 2007 with 'Dirt Farmer', his first solo albums in years.
