The new Smashing Pumpkins lineup performed live for the first time to honor the Seeds’ lead singer and bass guitarist Sky Saxon, who passed away last month.

They played Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky (also the one-off band’s moniker), the Seeds’ 900 Million People Daily (All Makin’ Love), and a new Corgan-penned tune, possibly called Freak.

Former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin departed in March 2009 because he could no longer commit all of his energy into something that he didn\'t fully possess.
