In November 1990 Huub was involved in a severe car accident. Physically it had become impossible for Huub to keep playing with the Dutch Swing College Band. Huub continued with his own Amazing Jazzband.
With care and devotion Huub helped many students to a higher level at his home in Den Bosch. He also participated in drum battles on festivals, often with Charly Antolini and Pete York. Huub demonstrated his excellent technique until the end of his career.
In 2007 (for the second time) a brain tumour was observed. Huub\'s energy quickly diminished. In October it became clear that no treatment would be possible and Huub was looked after in a hospice. His colleagues of Revival Jass Band performed one last time around Huub\'s bed in early December, with Huubs zoon Hubert on percussion.
Eventually Huub Janssen passed away in the hospice on Thursday January 24, 2008 around half past ten. In the words of Revival Jass Band: \"a giant has gone, rhythm will never be the same\".
