Umeå, Sweden-based, female-fronted band 6th Awakening have announced the addition of drummer Alexander Gustavsson (Riveria) to the group\'s ranks. After seven years in the band, previous drummer Mikael Linné (photo) parted ways with 6th Awakening in April 2007. \"To find a man or woman to fill Mikaels shoes wasn\'t an easy task and the last months have been a non-stop hunt for a new drummer. With people even from Canada applying for the position, we\'re proud to announce that we finally have found a guy that have blown us all away. His drumming really fits the 6th Awakening sound and we are proud to say: Welcome to the family Alexander Gustavsson!\"
6th Awakening recently signed a deal with the Bainbridge Island, Washington label Aphotic Records. The group will enter the studio this fall to begin recording their debut album for a late 2007 release.
6th Awakening\'s most recent recording was a four-song demo/ep, entitled \'Deadincide\'. All four cuts are available for free download from the group\'s official web site.
