Drummer Gus Rios (ex-Malevolent Creation, Divine Empire) has joined Southern California quintet Manntis. Rios is replacing previous sticksman Andre Morales. Manntis vocalist Jake Sirokman has issued the following update:\"We would like to take the opportunity to welcome drummer, Gus Rios to the Manntis lineup! Gus hails from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. With over fifteen years touring, recording and producing experience in the industry, Gus is sure to add an extreme element to the Manntis sound. Manntis is honored to have Gus in the band and we are looking forward to pummeling the audience with our intense and solid lineup.\"
Rios started playing drums at the age of ten. Having played in bands for five years, Gus Rios felt that it was time to take lessons. He has studied with acclaimed drummers such as Dave Culross and Sean Reinert. The drummer has been endorsing Sabian since 1997, and Spaun drums since 1998.
New Manntis album coming up
Manntis\' critically acclaimed album \"Sleep In Your Grave\" was produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motörhead, Social Distortion) and is available on Century Media Records.
The band recently entered G-Spot Studios in their hometown of Riverside, California with producer/engineer Gunlock to begin recording their sophomore release, tentatively due summer 2007.
