On December 29 and 30, 2005 Arnoud recorded \'The Arnoud Gerritse Funky Case\' that is for sale on Drummerszone.com. 14 Songs that each sound differently and make the Funky Case an album that is diverse, grooving and spontaneous. Arnoud found many great artists from The Netherlands and abroad to work with him on his first solo project. A few examples: you can hear percussionist/drummer Ron van Stratum, well known Jazz drummer John Engels and bass player Jeroen Vierdag (Lucas van Merwijk, Leonardo Amuedo) on the album.

And the album is a fine one. The idea for the album is quite unique. Asking Arnoud about it, he explains:

\"You might be aware of the fact that musicians, artists and professional sportsmen in Europe pay double taxes over the expenses they make abroad. We pay taxes (over our expenses) in foreign countries and then again in our homeland. My tax accountant Dick Molenaar of ”All Arts”, started a lawsuit to gather attention for this injustice. That became a “Showcase” entitled “The Arnoud Gerritse Case”, before the European Court of Justice. Dick Molenaar and partner Harald Grams, won the case, the arrest got translated into over 20 languages, Dick travels the world doing lectures about this subject, and my name became well-known in “The Financial World”, “A FUNKY Case”!

As a result of “The Arnoud Gerritse Case”, I was invited to show up in person and as a musician, behind “The Case” in Vienna, Austria. And it was there that this idea sprung to mind, to use the opportunity that “The Arnoud Gerritse Case” gave me. This idea came to me: make a cd for people, that might be interested in the person/musician Arnoud Gerritse, and at the same time, make music from my point of view. So I contacted Dick Molenaar, who was willing to sponsor this project, and I started working… The “Worksong” -on the cd- will from now on remind me about that.

Over the years I have played with many, many musicians of which a lot became friends. Along the path, I invited more and more friends to join the party. This recording is the result of a lot of work, “a labour of love for music”, a recorded party with a bunch of friends in the famous Wisseloord Studios, but more important: a tribute to all my friends and heroes, because this project and life in general, is impossible without this idea: “With a little help from my friends….\"
