Bassist Jason \"Jasonic\" Newsted, formerly of Metallica, has just finished laying down his parts. Vocalist Denis \"Snake\" Belanger is expected to complete the recordings in December.
Voivod guitarist Denis \"Piggy\" D\'Amour died August 26, 2005 from complications of colon cancer.
The surviving Voivod members — Snake, Away and Newsted — vowed to complete the band\'s forteenth album as a tribute to the late guitarist, who recorded his parts for the CD prior to his death.
For their new album the Canadian band has teamed up with producer Glen Robinson (Annihilator, Nashville Pussy). Their release is tentatively due in early 2006 via The End Records.
In related news: Michel Langevin is still working on his book, to be released early next year on Troubleman Unlimited. The book will contain 300 black-and-white drawings and 50 colored pictures.
The drummer is also continuing work on the group\'s next DVD release, \"DVOD-2\", which will contain footage shot during the Eric Forrest era of the band. A follow-up DVD release, \"DVOD-3\", will cover the band\'s most recent line-up, which includes Newsted.
