"It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that I share the news of the passing of my beloved husband, Aaron Spears. Aaron was not only an incredibly accomplished drummer, admired by many for his unparalleled talent and passion for music, but he was also a devoted father to our precious son, August."

As a sought-after session and touring drummer Spears shared the stage with music stars such as Usher, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Gideon Band, Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood, Chaka Khan, Miley Cyrus, and even the legendary James Brown.

In 2017, he was the drummer for Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman tour, which included the tragic show on 22 May when the Manchester Bombing occurred. The terrorist attack claimed the lives of 22 audience members and injured over 1000 of the people in attendance.

The last few years, Aaron was mostly doing television work. He was the house drummer on NBC's Songland and the Musical Director for season 3 of the US version of The Masked Singer. He went on to release the Aaron Spears Drum Notation book, containing transcriptions of six of his most popular performances in 2020.

In 2019 we filmed Aaron's performance at the Paris Bag'Show. The day before his main stage performance was his birthday. During soundcheck we took our moment with him:

In May 2023, Aaron switched from years of duty on Sonor drums to Ludwig. At the time of his death these were the brands in his setup, including Zildjian drumsticks.
