The exercise below is an example of a book filled with ideas like this one. This book is exclusively about snare exercises that will improve your hand technique and your general understanding of rhythm at the same time. Additionally, playing these exercises using different subdivisions and time signatures will further strengthen your rhythmic overview and will make the exercises more interesting and less repetitive. • Throughout the whole exercise, you play four strokes per hand in 3/4 time.
  
• In bars 1 & 3 you lead with the right hand and in bars 2 & 4, you automatically lead with the left.
  
• In line 1 you accent quarter notes.
  
• In line 2 you accent every third sixteenth note.

Line 2 of the exercise is a good example of how changing the accentuation while playing the same sticking makes an exercise so much more interesting and technically more challenging.

The first chapter of this book offers a wide range of great warm-up exercises that combine well-known stickings with accentuations, subdivisions, or time signatures that are unusual for these stickings.
