Every year, the day after The UK Drum Show in Manchester, the British Drum Company opens her doors for everyone to visit the factory. This year something special happened when Ilse Hofma, the drummer of the Netherlands based mega-act Wulf, had her own custom-made drums revealed to her.

A first and unique design for the Manchester based drum company. And, according to Fraz, one of the master drum builders at the company, a tricky one to complete to her wishes as well. Several rounds of testing were done before completing her specialized finish to make sure her wishes were fulfilled to the fullest.

The specialty
Ilse's Legend Series drum shells have colored sparks - a lot of them! In daylight view they already move with you when even looking at them, like watching galaxies pop up instantly. An effect that we look forward to capture on stage.

It is not a regular finish of the British Drum Co. but it is a first with this custom sparkle. It is only slightly thicker than any other paints used by the BDC. Which means, the glitter effects used do not necessarily mean a thicker finish. Even better: the quality is equally 100% proof for going on the road. And that is just what Ilse does. Wulf's last tour captured crowds of over 15,000 and more.

The first time I tried these British Drum Co. drums I was blown away and fell completely in love with the Legend Series. Their sound is so big and yet so versatile, and I mean, look at the the stunning details on those drums!

Ilse Hofma
Besides working with Wulf, Ilse is a drum teacher at Beat The Drums, the Zaanse Pop School and IJmond Pop School, all based in The Netherlands. She has performed with Dutch A-artists like Shirma Rouse, Candy Dulfer, Glennis Grace and Alain Clark. Check out Ilse's artist page for more photos and videos.
