The news was first reported by fansite Pearl Jam Online, but a spokesperson for the Denton County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the warrants, which date back to September 2014. According to the Denton County Crime Stoppers webpage, Dave Abbruzzese has gotten into some serious legal trouble.

The drummer has been charged twice. The first charge is possession of a controlled substance. This is a Class A misdemeanor, the penalty of which is a $4,000 fine or up to a year in county jail. There’s also a second charge: manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. That is a first degree felony in the state of Texas, with a penalty of five years to life in prison.

Dave Abbruzzese joined Pearl Jam in 1991, stepping in for drummer Matt Chamberlain. Dave was around for the monster success that accompanied the band's album 'Ten'. He appeared on the the 1993 follow-up 'Vs.' as well as their 1994 disc 'Vitalogy', but parted ways with the band prior to the album release. In August 1994, Dave issued a statement claiming he was fired:

"There are different philosophies and personalities that make up Pearl Jam. For reasons that I don't completely understand, the other members decided it was necessary to fire me in order to pursue a philosophy which they perceive as incompatible with mine. I was not involved in their decision, nor do I agree with their decision, but I accept it and am proud to have been a part of what Pearl Jam was."

Following the firing of Dave Abbruzzese, Jack Irons became Pearl Jam's official drummer in late 1994.
