Cees "Ani" Meerman, former drummer for Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, has died. Cees passed away in his sleep at his home in Ommen this weekend. He was 64 years old.
Cees Meerman was born in Vlissingen. He was drummer for Herman Brood & His Wild Romance during their most successful but also the most notorious years: the band was known for their music, but also for the consumption of huge amounts of alcohol and drugs.
In the late seventies the sex, drugs & rock 'n roll band scored hits with songs like Saturday Night, Still Believe, Never Be Clever en I Love You Like I Love Myself, and a gold record for 'Shpritsz' in 1978.
More recently, Cees Meerman released a couple of solo albums on which he sang and played guitar. 2007 saw the release of the album 'Up To You'. Below's a video of Cees singing Champagne (and Wine) at a tribute to Herman Brood:
